Salt and pepper

The Boy enjoys lengthy conversations about logistics. For example "That's a big dump truck. It's a Volvo dump truck. It's kind of loud because it has a big engine. It has double wheels in the back because it's really heavy. And a bumper, and headlights, and a sign on the side that says what it's dumping."

So the other day we were talking about the street sweepers that were parked in the public works garage. The boy asked why no one was driving them.

"The roads are dirty, they should clean them."

And so I went on to explain that the roads get so dirty this time of year that they wait until spring to clean them up. And as we drove along I said "See all the leaves and pine needles and sand and salt?"

"AND PEPPER!" he exclaimed
