To be honest, I was looking forward to a final year without costumes or candy and all the other things that discourage me from Halloween. But, The Boy and I went to a play at the childrens museum in Portland and one of the characters was a dog who only wore a pair of ears and barked at the beginning and end of every phrase she spoke.
To my surprise, the boy started barking back at her and continued this cute habit for the duration of the hour. That's when I knew that he understood the fun of a costume.

I seem to always work on Halloween so John and The Boy came by and we walked up and down the block. This block takes Halloween so seriously that PD shuts down the street, there were 7 haunted houses, thousands of dollars in decorations, smoke machines, and of course super scary and gross costumes. He wasn't frightened by any of it. He shied away from a giant gorilla, but seemed to study all the gory stuff as if to wonder " if you put the eyeballs back up top and ask the bloody monster to wipe his chin and smile, he wouldn't be such a bad guy afterall"
I was surprised how much we all enjoyed it. He would growl and roar nonstop until his voice was hoarse and would "Moo" and "Baa" and "Oo Ah Oo Ah Oo" at all the animals he recognized.
