John has been teaching some ultra-geeky rope rescue classes this month. He has been spending a lot of time preparing for this project and everything came together quite well and was met with overwhelming enthusiasm.

And because the boy and I will jump at any excuse to venture into the woods, off we went. He was very busy sorting through the box of carabiners and pulleys and gizmo this and that. And of course, he had a lot to say about it. By the end of the hour he had traded all the gadgets he could reach in the box for sticks and stones from the trail path.
